Christ Church

In the hill resort of Munnar you will get to witness the beauty of nature. Amongst the must visits in Munnar are the lavish and splendid tea gardens and the Christ Church. The Christ Church is another landmark of this hill resort. Christ Church is a Protestant church located in Munnar, Travancore.
Built in 1910 out of stone, the exteriors have worn out with time though the charming interiors still have a very nice ambience. It has 14 original rows of pews. The interior has lovely stained glass windows. You can also see many brass plaques inside the Christ Church, honoring the memory of the tea planters. The cemetery on the hill beside Christ Church has tombs that date back to 1894. The Church of South India now administers the church. The first Catholic Church in the High Ranges was Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church. Now the Sunday services are held here. It is a landmark in Munnar and worth visiting especially during the Christmas period. Therefore, if you are in Munnar, in anytime during the Christmas, just don't forget to visit the Christ Church. You will get mesmerized by the way the whole church is decorated with lights and x-mas trees.

Local transportation in and around Munnar is easily available. You may get in taxis, auto rickshaws, bicycles or buses to reach Munnar. Hired cycles are a popular way of exploring the hill resort.
- By Road: The roads are excellent having many routes to reach Munnar. There are several buses run by the State Transport Corporation that offer a guided tour of places in and around Munnar.
- By Air: The international airport at Cochin or Kochi is situated at a distance of 130 km from Munnar.
- By Rail: Cochin-Kochi is the nearest railway station to Munnar.
